SSCCC Board Officers
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the Student Senate for California Community Colleges and consists of six Board Officers, ten Regional Affairs Directors, ten Legislative Affairs Directors, and the Executive Director. The board directs the activities and affairs of the organization, implements the resolutions passed by the Delegate Assembly, and serves as the collective voice of the Regions to promote cooperation and best practices.

President
Stephen Kodur is a student at Reedley College studying Kinesiology, Business Administration, Communication Studies, and Political Science. He is an avid sports fan and currently works as a Physical Education teacher for a local school district. He has always had a passion for working with students and he hopes to continue his education at either Fresno State or one of the great UCs.

Vice President
Katherine Squire is a current student at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton where she previously served as the student trustee for her student body association and Regional Affairs Director for Region II. She is also pursuing her bachelor's degree in political science as a transfer student at UC Berkeley and plans to attend graduate school for public policy.

Vice President of Regional Affairs
Benjamin Blevins is a political science major who started with SSCCC in fall 2019 after graduating from Point Loma High School. He joined the student government as the Director of Student Legislation for Grossmont College, then went on to serve as the Vice Chair for Region X. As Regional Affairs Director, he identifies student equity and environmental measures like the installation of solar panels across the state as an issue he wants to support. After college, the native San Diegan aspires to serve in the U.S. Congress.

Vice President of Legislative Affairs
Andrew Nickens is a student leader passionate about public policy and governance in Folsom. He is a political science student studying at Folsom Lake College and UC Davis. Before getting involved in student governance, he was active in his community through Boy Scouts, eventually attaining the Eagle Award. Once he started attending community college, he became the Director of Legislative Affairs for the Associated Students of Folsom Lake College before joining the SSCCC. He hopes to continue his work as a public servant in the area of public policy after attaining a postgraduate degree.

Toni Schiffmaier is a Pre-Law Business Administration major (specializing in Nonprofit Management/Finance) at Folsom Lake College. Her future goals are to transfer to UC Berkeley, attend law school, and start a nonprofit focused on Basic Needs. She is passionate about Basic Needs and serving students. Toni's goal is to be a support system for all students.

Vice President of Communications
Brianna Ross is a third-year student at Irvine Valley College and the current President of the Associated Students of Irvine Valley College. Prior to being elected as President, she was the Senator of Physical Sciences and Technologies. As a senator, she formed the Campus Sustainability ad hoc committee where she grew a passion for environmental policy. She hopes to transfer to UC Irvine as an Environmental Science and Policy major to pursue a career in local or state policy. Before moving to Irvine, she grew up in Santa Cruz where she spent a lot of time visiting the many redwood parks in the area. She is also an aspiring tea connoisseur and enjoys playing Animal Crossing as a pandemic pass-time.

Region II Regional Affairs Director
Anjali Patel is a student at Sierra College, majoring in Biology, Kinesiology, and Health Science. Her involvement with student advocacy began in Fall 2018. Since then, she has remained engaged with her local ASO, starting as a Senator, then serving as Director of Communications, to her current position as Executive Vice President. She got involved with Region II and SSCCC as a Delegate for the 2019-2020 term. She began the 2020-2021 year as Vice-Chair for the region and now serves as the Regional Affairs Director. Anjali is also active in various SSCCC caucuses. She leads the Women’s Caucus as Chair and passionately represents the needs and concerns of women-identifying students across the state.

Jasmine Prasad is a student at Folsom Lake College majoring in Political Science. She has engaged in many advocacy opportunities such as being a part of Youth and Government, volunteering for the California Senior Legislature, and Participating in a Q & A panel with general consulates as a model United Nations Secretariat.

Region III Regional Affairs Director
Angelica Campos is a student at City College of San Francisco (CCSF), majoring in Sociology and Latinx Studies. They have been a dedicated student advocate and leader since 2017 in varying capacities, from Senator to two consecutive terms as the ASCCSF Ocean Campus President. For the 2020-2021 term, they are currently serving as Student Chancellor and Chair of the ASCCSF Executive Council. They are passionate about equity issues such as closing the achievement gap for students of color and ensuring protection for the gender diverse populations within the California Community College Student Body. Their advocacy work extends beyond the SSCCC and their SBA, they work part-time for the CCSF Women's Resource Center where they address women’s issues and strive to foster a safe community within the center. In their free time, they enjoy listening to vinyl, playing animal crossing, and debating on political issues with friends.

Region III Legislative Affairs Director
Diamund is a Sophomore at City College of San Francisco, majoring in Psychology and Social Justice Studies. She has been working with Project SURVIVE as an advocate and peer educator for over 2 years with a focus on development in sexual health and wellness. While she enjoys teaching students how to foster healthy relationships and dismantle systems that abuses its powers, she also focuses on direct legislative advocacy and assisted with the S.3955 bill resulting in the prohibition of no-knock warrants. She has also been appointed as the chair of the Community Committee at CCSF, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the students that would be impacted by the condominium Balboa Reservoir Development Project. She has also recently been appointed as an Associated Students Council Senator at Ocean Campus. Diamund is determined to create state and federal change that will further nurture the safety of those often negatively impacted by marginalization and racial discrimination. She is excited to continue working in tandem with other college student leaders, organizers, legislators, and the community at large through advocacy and positive change.

Ashley Aquino is currently a second-year community college student at De Anza College studying and majoring in Political Science. In her time being at De Anza, she was able to find her passion for political advocacy, as she became a part of student government, holding the title as Vice-Chair of the Legislative Affairs Committee. She also served in other committees such as Student Rights & Services and attended Shared Governance Meetings, such as SSCCC Meetings which sparked her involvement with the organization. She also was a 2020 student trustee candidate at De Anza, where she spread awareness about the housing crisis, food insecurity, transportation insecurity, and student worker wages; all issues in which she continues to work on. Another main issue she is passionate about is assisting the system impacted individuals and reforming the criminal justice system. As Region IV LAD, she hopes to connect with more community college students and other colleges statewide, understand their issues, and work hard to resolve as many as she can while gaining insight from other great student leaders.

Region V Regional Affairs Director
Emma McNellis is a Pre-Law student at Bakersfield College, where she is studying Philosophy and Economics and serves as the Vice President of her local student government. She began as a Senator for her local community college, then became the Vice-Chair for Region V. As Regional Affairs Director, Emma wants to ensure that the voices of all students are both heard and represented at the governance level, as it is essential for the SSCCC to do everything in its power to ensure that all students who want to learn and grow have the opportunities and resources to do so. She hopes to transfer to UCLA, where she wants to continue her work in student government and representation, and attend law school.

Gian Gayatao is a student at Bakersfield College majoring in History. He served as a Senator from 2019-2020 and is currently serving as its Student Government President.
As Legislative Affairs Director, his wholehearted dedication belongs to every student he represents and every principle the SSCCC stands for. Gian aspires to make it to the federal service academy in Annapolis, Maryland so that he can fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming an officer in the United States Navy and his devotion to its values of honor, courage, and commitment. -

Region VI Legislative Affairs Director
Gerald Richardson III is a Pre-Law Political Science and Sociology student in the Ventura County Community College District. At Oxnard College, he serves the student body as the ASG Senate Chair. At Moorpark College, he founded Youthfully Evolved Society (YES), a civic engagement, advocacy, and community service student-led organization. He also serves as the Vice President of the Black Student Union. Gerald has set his campus on a path to diversity, equity, and cultural competency through his social justice efforts. Gerald aims to live a life of advocacy and plans to earn a Masters in Public Policy and a Juris Doctorate.

Kelly Li is a Philosophy and Political Science Major at Pasadena City College. At Pasadena City College, she serves as the Vice President of External Affairs and the Chair of the Student Lobby Committee where she strives towards student equity and accessibility through legislative efforts at the local, state, and federal level. She hopes to continue this effort for Region VII and into her future years of higher education for all students by pursuing legislative advocacy to secure the opportunities for success for all students.

Region VII Legislative Affairs Director
David Ramirez is a first-generation college student at Pasadena City College, where he currently serves as Student Trustee. He began his involvement in student advocacy in 2019 as a committee member in the Associated Students of Pasadena City College and later was elected as Chief Justice and ICC Parliamentarian. He is committed to advocating for a community college experience that is equitable and responsive to the holistic needs of all students. Most of all, he is committed to students who historically have not been at the table.

Region VIII Regional Affairs Director
Henry Gardner is a student at Santiago Canyon College pursuing studies in History and Political Science. Beginning his career in student government in 2018, Henry has served his college as a student representative, Chief Justice, and President whilst also positioning himself as Vice-Chair for Region VIII. As the Regional Affairs Director for Region VIII, he plans to continue the fight for student needs and equity and to provide strong foundations for regional activities in years to come. Henry hopes to continue onwards through a four-year university, graduate school, and eventually into the field college education where he can continue his work with and for the students.

Shailah Arreola-Bittner is a student at Mt. San Antonio College who is currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science. Over the course of her time at Mt. SAC, Shailah has served as the Inter-Club Council Representative for the environmental action club known as EAGLE, the Vice President of Service for her local Phi Theta Kappa chapter, and the Academic Senator for the Associated Students of Mt. SAC. Some of her proudest achievements are fundraising $2,000 so that EAGLE could expand the Mt.SAC Wildlife Sanctuary, helping earn funds for future sustainability efforts, and lobbying student government officials as well as administration to protect the rights of Latinx and Muslim students. She hopes to transfer to either UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, or UCLA, where she hopes to do research regarding sustainable practices and study environmental policy. During her time in the SSCCC, Shailah plans on continuing to advocate on behalf of students through her legislative work and hopes to help build strong foundations in multiple areas of the SSCCC so that future student leaders can continue to effectively champion issues that matter to students.

Region IX Regional Affairs Director
Gerardo Chavez is studying History at Riverside City College (RCC) and served as the RCC student government secretary and Region IX delegate for the 2019-2020 academic year. His time as Region IX delegate inspired him to continue state-level advocacy so he ran for Region IX Regional Affairs Director. Gerardo plans to transfer to a four-year university, attend law school, and continue serving the community.

Dr. Julie Adams, CAE
Dr. Adams has over 30 years of experience in nonprofit management. Prior to joining the Student Senate, Julie provided, for more than 20 years, the organizational oversight of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, served as the transition manager for Umoja Community Foundation, and started her own business -- Agile Association Management Solutions. She also teaches part-time at Cosumnes River College in Business.
After serving in the US Army, she attended more than six California community colleges, received her Bachelor's Degree in Business from California State University - Sacramento, an MBA from the University of California – Davis, and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration, with a concentration in nonprofit management and leadership, from Walden University. She is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and CalSAE (California Chapter). She also has a Nonprofit Board Consulting Certificate from Board Source.
