Selection Criteria

The Student Senate for California Community Colleges has initiated a call for applications for students to serve on the California Community Colleges Board of Governors (BOG). Please forward this information to students, advisors, and faculty on your campus to encourage qualified students to apply. With one vacant seat and the other with an expired term, the Student Senate is seeking candidates to fill these seats. Both appointments are made by the Governor from a list of at least three names forwarded by the Student Senate Council. Education Code Section 71000 requires the following of student BOG members:

These students must be enrolled in a community college with a minimum of five semester units, or its equivalent, at the time of the appointment and throughout the period of their terms, or until a replacement has been named. A student member shall be enrolled in a community college at least one semester prior to his or her appointment and shall meet and maintain the minimum standards of scholarship prescribed for community college students.

The selection criteria and application are included with this letter. The filing period will conclude on January 31, 2009.Applications must be received by January 31, 2009. Please submit completed applications to:
